“Yes I do. Lots of coconut milk. Cow’s milk? Not so much.” Cow’s milk today is filled with antibiotics and a genetically engineered form of bovine growth hormone (rBGH). rBGH is a man-made or synthetic hormone used to artificially increase milk production, it also increases blood levels of the insulin-growth factor 1 (IGF-1) in those who drink it. And higher levels of IGF-1 are linked to several cancers.

I also realized that dairy and yeast were some of the biggest culprits contributing to my ‘out of control’ seborrheic dermatitis so I had to find a replacement; so I tried soy milk. This trial did not last long as  my condition got worse.

I was very anxious to find a solution as I was often shamed or scorned because of it. Therefore I needed a solution just to feel at ease and since no shampoo and ointment worked well enough to prevent it, I did my research. That’s when I realized I was really into nuts…

Coconut milk is one of the most useful healthy food replacements as I am still able to consume smoothies, tea, coffee, cereal and anything that requires cow’s milk; while getting some great nutrients.

The kernel is an excellent source of minerals such as copper, calcium, iron, magnesium, and zinc. It is also a very good source of B-complex vitamins such as folates, riboflavin, niacin, thiamin, and pyridoxine. Coconut contains a very good amount of potassium. Coconut milk adds a very exotic flavour to most dishes and I love it. In Jamaica, culturally, the milk from the coconut is used in rice and peas, desserts and run dung. Click the next page ↓
